The Names of the Revolution

The Names of the Syrian Revolution - Arabic

From the inception of the Syrian uprising, each Friday has been given a special title by activists involved in protests. Fridays were important in the beginning because more protests would occur on that day than any other day of the week. Protests would often take place immediately following communal prayers in mosques where large groups of people would have already congregated together, something impossible in Syria outside of institutionalized contexts like the mosque or a place of education.

Each Friday bore a name such as “The Day of Rage” or “The Day of Defiance” and such titles were picked up and circulated by both the Arab and Western media. The practice of naming the Fridays was started by the “Syrian Revolution 2011” Facebook page, run by Fida’ ad-Din Tariif as-Sayyid ‘Isa, a Syrian activist in Sweden.

Some months into the uprising in 2011, people complained and proposed that the process of naming the Fridays should be democratic rather than performed by a small group of website administrators. A new system emerged whereby a number of options for the next Friday’s name would be posted on the Revolution Facebook page, and visitors were able to vote for the title of their choosing. Each week, multiple thousands vote on these names.

The names have reflected themes that concern the uprising during the particular week that a name is assigned. Back when the uprising was still characterized by protests rather than skirmishes, activists would incorporate the current Friday’s name into the slogans and banners used in demonstrations.

At the beginning, names began as simple, one-word titles such as “The Day of Honor” that were general in scope. Then the names began to express specific ideas, like “The Day of Loyalty to the Kurdish Uprising,” or positions that could be endorsed, like “The Day of No to Peacekeeping Forces in The Land of Sham.” Eventually, names grew unwieldy in length and included statements, i.e. “The Day of Full Preparation for Full Mobilization; Russia is the Enemy of the Syrian People” or “The Day of Allah Is Great: He Supported his Worshipers, Made his Soldiers Mighty, and Defeated the Factions Alone” (an excerpt from a prayer recited on Eid). Some titles employed cleverness: “Revolution University – Martyrdom Engineering.”

We recently collected all of the names given to the Fridays since the beginning of the uprising and list them below with translations. December 9 marked the 1000th day of the revolution; all of the Friday names listed below except the final one (Dec. 13) constitute the first 1000 days of the revolution.

Anyone can give a straight answer to the position of the US administration toward Syria!
It is undesirable to ask such a question. It will bring up many of the difficult answers the Administration hesitate to admit or take upon itself to solve the dilemma of turning Syria into a new Afghanistan. Radical Islamist are in control of a country which was to some extinct secular where everyone was suppressed by a dictatorship and a clan of Mobs who are surrounding the regime.
It didn’t matter at that time what sect the Mob was, it involved, Sunni and Alawite at the same time.
it is no surprise is married to a Sunni and his wife’s family was party of the Mob ruling Syria.
Now a days, we ended with a broken state, full of foreign jihadists, murders, criminal where most of this were in prison at one time.

I don’t see and near solution to Syria, it is a loss- loss situation and the world has no interest in saving this country, it is not important in anyway.
People who died are a pocket of change for the rest of the world.

I noticed that one of the Friday names was Salih al-Ali, after the great Syrian leader, an Alawi, who resisted French rule in 1918 and united with his Sunni brothers in Halab in opposing the French occupation. Later in 1925, the Druze leader Sultan al-Atrash led another revolt to French rule in favor of Syrian independence.

Could it be that Syrians had more of sense of national identity back then, than they do now, where they are falling deeper and deeper into sectarian hatred? 43 years of misrule, not building proper institutions, discouraging any civilian participation in government (with ignorant slogans like al-Asad ila al-abad to boot) can do that.

Syrians in 1920-25 could imagine “Syria” as anything they wanted it to be. Probably Saleh al-Ali’s Syria, Sultan al-Atrash’s Syria and Hasan al-Kharrat’s Syria were different concepts, but because all of these concepts were imaginary (the “real” Syria was a French colony) they could all agree on what and who they were against.

Prominent Shiite cleric backs fighting in Syria

BAGHDAD (AP) — A leading Shiite Muslim cleric widely followed by Iraqi militants has issued the first public religious edict permitting Shiites to fight in Syria’s civil war alongside President Bashar Assad’s forces.

The fatwa by Iran-based Grand Ayatollah Kazim al-Haeri, one of the mentors of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, comes as thousands of Shiite fighters mostly from Iraq and Lebanon play a major role in the battles.

No Western media mentions children in the massacre of Adra, while it always mentions the exact number of children killed by air raids

Were there no children killed in Adra?

TEHRAN (FNA)- A Syrian engineer blew himself and his family members up in a valiant effort to preserve the honor of his family in the face of an intrusion into his home by violent foreign-backed terrorists.

Nazar Hassan, an engineer from the Syrian city of Adra, decided to detonate four grenades in case terrorists gained access to his home, Al-Alam reported Saturday.

Terrorists broke into the house and found Hassan and his wife along with their four children.

That is when Hassan decided to blow up himself along with his wife and children in an apparent bid to preserve the honor of his family, while also killing eight Takfiri terrorists in the process.

After storming the Adra city, militants from the terrorist Jaysh al-Islam group and Al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front kicked down doors, broke into private homes, shooting indiscriminately at men, women and kids.

Takfiri terrorists also abducted an unknown number of citizens and executed many in their homes.

Maybe they did have different concepts. But that is not likely.

Our best evidence that Syrian leaders had similar concepts of what Syria was remains the report of the American King-Crane Commission of 1919 (the good old days, when the Americans were popular in Syria and not in league with the Zionists).

They mostly agreed that Syria, at that time including what would become Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan, was one country that should become independent. The Syrians who declared independence in Damascus on March 8, 1920 reaffirmed this. Syria was a nation denied, killed in its infancy by the French and the British.

But that was not really my point. My point was that the sectarianism that exists now was not so intense back then, and Syrians of all backgrounds could make common cause. Their biggest sin was being outgunned by the imperialists.

Salih al-Ali allied himself with Ibrahim Hananu in Halab and Subhi Barakat in Antakya. President Shukri al-Quwatli would later make him a guest of honor on Evacuation Day, April 17, 1946.

It is a far cry from the smaller Syria of today, which looks like it can break up even further, something that outsiders have been keen to exploit. It is a shame of immense proportions, and I think, ultimately one that can be partly avoided by Syrians’ knowledge of their own history.

Agreed, political sectarianism did not loom so large in 1920. Politicized sectarian consciousness developed later, when the Syrian state was consolidated and various networks (including confessional ones) banded together to influence it or to gain control of it. But I don’t know how deeply rooted the idea of “Syria” was back then. Yes, the King-Crane Commission spoke with the political leaders of the day, and these figures spoke the language of “Syria,” but did their Syria really include the villagers and historically marginalized rural confessional populations? I think that “Syria” was still a vague concept, thus allowing everyone to agree that they were for Syria (and against colonialism) without really defining what that would mean. As it turns out, it meant different things to different groups of people who found themselves in the territory defined as Syria after 1920.

The first United Nations aid flight from Iraq to Syria took off on Sunday after being delayed for several days due to bad weather, an AFP journalist said.

The plane departed the Arbil airport in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region around 3:30 pm (1230 GMT), and was expected to arrive in Qamishli in northeastern Syria some 40 minutes later.

“Over the next few days, we will be sending to Qamishli… 400 tonnes of food,” Abeer Etefa, senior Middle East spokeswoman for the UN World Food Programme, told AFP.

The flight on Sunday was carrying about 40 metric tonnes of aid, Etefa said.

The fatwa by Iran-based Grand Ayatollah Kazim al-Haeri, one of the mentors of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, comes as thousands of Shiite fighters mostly from Iraq and Lebanon play a major role in the battles.
The call likely will increase the sectarian tones of the war, which pits overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim rebels against members of Assad’s Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam. The situation has worsened with the influx of thousands of Shiite and Sunni foreign fighters.
Al-Haeri is based in the holy city of Qom, Iran’s religious capital. Among his followers are many fighters with the feared Shiite militia, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, or Band of the Righteous, an Iranian-backed group that repeatedly attacked U.S. forces in Iraq and says it is sending fighters to Syria. That militia is headed by white-turbaned Shiite cleric Qais al-Khazali, who spent years in U.S. detention but was released after he was handed over to the Iraqi government.

(The war between Iran and KSA on Syrian soil can last decades if no compromise is reached. Watch for those who insist that their side can win, these are the people who want the blood shed to continue and are sectarian regardless of what they say, this war can not be won on the battle field, and any victory in it will not be decisive or long-lived)

Tara and SL

Here is the NYT today with the news that a prominent cleric has issued a call for Shia to go fight in Syria from his place in Qom. He is Iraqi and is claiming that the fight is for the defense of………. Islam.

So we now have a most prominent cleric asking his followers to go defend Islam in Syria and be allies with a supposedly secular state fighting Islamist Jihadi fighters.

Here is the article
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2013/12/15/world/middleeast/ap-ml-iraq-syria-fatwa.html?ref=middleeast&_r=0

Now this is not made in Zionist land or CIA basement or in some MI6 conspiracy. It is made in Iraq-Iran and the 50 year Sunni Shia war is off to a good start.

As for asking for help; our historian in residence has actually told us before my dear Tara that
1. He wished the collaboration with the Crusaders was deeper

2. He admits that the ancestor asked France to grant them a state

3. The Sykes Picot agreements came to the fore when the Bolsheviks wanted to payback the English and French showing that they always wanted to carve out the Ottoman empire.

4. The various communities have asked for protection each from its patron country the Orthodox from Russia and the Protestants from Britain and the Catholics from France and Italy.

Once again no one really reads carefully what I write and if they do they really do not seem to understand. I wonder whether my prose is at fault.

There is no question that the Ottomans ruled with oppression. There is no question that minorities suffered. There is no question that minority rule like the Sunni in Iraq or the Sunni in Bahrain has failed in bringing in a modern state. But the worst failures are those of Maronite minority rule in Lebanon and Alawi rule in Syria whereby the opportunity to usher in a modern state and a true Arab Secular Identity for after all they were champions of Arab Nationalism has failed totally because the previous oppressive period has rendered them immune to modernity and immune to transcendence.

They will have a resentful Sunni population for 50 generations

Now for the record I do not know if God exists and I do not think for one second that the religions of the world today offer any explanation but they do offer strife and intolerance unfortunately.

I see no end in sight. I just finished watching Al Ikhabaria from the regime side. Things are not going well at all for them these days.

For the cleric in Qom to issue an edict to go fight in Syria is telling.

Let us see what the IRGC will do.

Western governments have been watching since 2011 only to discover that rebel forces can not be trusted. Make no mistake about it, nobody likes the Assad regime but most people have decided that rebels represent a bigger and more dangerous monster. Having said that, no solution will come until the regime is changed to become more inclusive and Assad-free, a timetable for Assad’s departure should be a priority but it is not as far as we know, he is a decisive figure and his presence will fuel the insurgency and help recruit new Jihadists.

The Syrian Identity did not come from out of space. It has foundations and HISTORY. It also has a language.

The consecutive occupations of SYRIAN land did fight this identity. I do not expect people who came to the SYRIAN land, in the last few hundred years to support this. They has nothing to do with the Syrian identity. They happened to be in that place when it became what we know today as the Syrian Arab Republic. The Syrian land is far more than the current borders of this Syria. Ask the “Turks” about this.

Saleh al-‘Ali knew this and that is why he stood for a Syria he believed in. He did not share the beliefs of many Alawites, who wanted independence. He believed in the Syrian identity.

Actually I take back my words on Rusia. I believe they will qualify from their group behind Belgium. If I remember correct they play well as a team and are very industrious. They have a good manager in Capello. Guus Hiddink before him will have prepared them well.

I revise my prediction for the world cup and here is my list of favourites to win the world cup:

Brazil
Argentina
Spain
Holland
Alemania (Germany)

It is a question of time. Assad will not win. But syrians by then will have lost everything due to Assad and dirty assadists mess.

When daily fatwas were coming from Sunni sheikhs to destroy the heretics Shia, everybody found it natural: the oppressed Sunnis needed help against the heretics..
Now we have the Islamic Front, a 100% Sunni military organization been groomed by the USA thus encouraging further the divide and the sectarian conflict.
The aim of the Islamic Front is to create a Sunni Islamic State controlled by Saudi Arabia and reduce the Shias and the non-Moslem minorities to second class citizens as they are in the “Guided Kingdom” . A goal enthusiatically supported and funded by Saudi Arabia and to certain degree by Turkey and Qatar.

As the other religious minorities are too weak to react, the obvious response to the Sunni Islamic Front is a Shia Islamic Front.
Bashar al Assad has become just a minor actor in an open and large confrontation between the Shia and the Sunnis.
As the USA and the West are, “Allah” must also be confused about which side he should support…

I would then Declare HA as such according to the definition agreed upon at the end of the conference. I then would legally prosecute HA members according to the law. The evidence is ample. A televised admission of Nasrallah pledging allegiance trumps the evidence.

Observacion:

Although you are still insulting me, speaking in your strange language, apparently fabricating things here and there, flip-flopping, and speaking in riddles, I can not fight the temptation to respond. I really do not want to bore the readers because you are making me repeat the same things again:

Here is my usual fire special for you “dr.” observacion

1- I MJABALI had said on this board that the Shia are going to be coming to fight in Syria. That happened when YOU, amongst others, thought that violence is the way to throw al-Assad out. I told you guys and gals hold your horses, this man is fully armed and has friends who are going to join in if he became in danger. It is not amateur hour here.

2- AS for the Crusades and the Alawites, besides you calling the Alawites traitors, you never proved your claim that the Alawites had helped the Crusades. All you did was repeating what the Salafi say. Then you pretended you do not know Ibn Taymyah who used this point to cleanse Damascus and its suburbs from the Alawites. Ask your family about this.

3- Waiting for your proof that the Alawites helped the Crusades.

4- I, repeat what I say and believe in, say that if the Alawites had helped the Crusades they did not helped them enough. I wish they helped them more. Maybe modernity would have reached us in time. See Obeservacion, the structure that brought you to Damascus is a failed one compared with that of the Europeans. See there is no comparison between the Crusades VS the mix of Turks and Kurds and Arabs…I would go with the Crusades…. You guys are into different things…

5- Again: You are fabricating things about me when it comes to the Alawites and the French: I said it made no sense to me that Hafez al-Assad’s fathers name would be on that document. I say that this is another fabrication by the Sunnis…I always said this…they did this to smear Hafez al-Assad. The truth is that Hafez al-Assad’s father was not an important man in al-Qurdaha. He was most likely did not know how to read and write, he was from a generation that suffered a lot at the hands of the Ottomans and the World War 1. Most likely he did not know how to read and write….al-Qurdaha had the Othman family and Ismail Family who were dominant, as for religious affairs: it was al-KHayyer…

6- The document that Observer and the Sunnis always bring was signed by no more than 15, amongst them was a Christian and a Sunni…The Alawite State was not that bad, because the area started getting schools in the mountains, and hospitals, plus roads…Many wanted the Alawite State…For Observacion this is treason….

7- The Sunnis, like Observer, always neglect the OTHER DOCUMENT that was signed by hundreds of Alawites, Christians and Sunnis asking to join Syria. They neglect this important document and always bring the one that is signed by few.

8- Observer said: “He admits that the ancestor asked France to grant them a state.”

Here you lie simply because I never mentioned anything about my immediate family, and if they did vote. Also, Mr. Observer, you live in a democratic country and you should respect each person wishes. Do not call them traitors. Who are you?

9- The minorities called for protection because of your bloody violent history and hegemonic mentality. History proves this.

10- Observarcion said: “They will have a resentful Sunni population for 50 generations” The Sunnis have been resentful from day one, from generation number ONE, so they are going to be the same in the future. ?? ?????

It is such behavior that demonstrates the type of sick minds of loyalists possess. The will to live will be stronger than all the evil forces of the corrupt and greedy assad clan and their supporters.

At this stage, the continued ethical and moral failure of those propping up the assad criminal regime no longer surprise me. Criminal intent, racist attitude, and scared sick minds make us all suffer. Disgust doesn’t even come close.

The sick mind of assad and its handlers of sectarian backward vultures, are more than illustrated by their use of defunct syrian coins with the emblem of the original thug as fillers for the barrels of death. This family must be eradicated for the sake of humanity. Its loyalists must pay heavy price for the crimes against humanity they have been supporting and cheering and for the false, mean, and sick moral equivalencies they have been trying to peddle here and elsewhere.

I am not a religious person, but I happen to believe that the curse of humans is far stronger than the curse of gods. Millions now curse the regime and its loyalists. The sad thing is that, they themselves have cursed the future of their own children. The Price will be very heavy for it will take many a generation for the hate that they have leveled on Syrians to dissipate.

How I fear rabid dogs hunting day, for it is usually a merciless and brutal, and revolting event, and the hunters, pained by their losses, may spare not a healthy puppy. But the assads and their loyalists and supporters insist on being hunted after they have haunted millions for decades. ISIL is heading in the same direction, and Syrians will eventually have to rid their land of all rabid animals be them dogs or hyenas.

Origin of the Name Allah

The Encyclopedia of Religion says: “‘Allah’ is a pre-Islamic name … corresponding to the Baylonian Bel” (ed. James Hastings, Edinburgh, T. & T. Clark, 1908, I:326).

I know that Muslims will find this hard to believe so I am now going to make many citations and present the archaeological evidence to prove conclusively that is true. Though this data will be painful for many of our readers, it is necessary to face the truth. Facts and facts, and unless you are willing to desert all logic, reason and common sense, and the evidence of your eyes, they must be faced.

?”Allah is found … in Arabic inscriptions prior to Islam” (Encyclopedia Britannica, I:643)

?”The Arabs, before the time of Mohammed, accepted and worshipped, after a fashion, a supreme god called allah” (Encyclopedia of Islam, eds. Houtsma, Arnold, Basset, Hartman; Leiden: E.J.Brill, 1913, I:302)

?”Allah was known to the pre-Islamic Arabs; he was one of the Meccan deities” (Encyclopedia of Islam, ed. Gibb, I:406)

?”Ilah … appears in pre-Islamic poetry … By frequency of usage, al-ilah was contracted to allah, frequently attested to in pre-Islamic poetry” (Encyclopedia of Islam, eds. Lewis, Menage, Pellat, Schacht; Leiden: E.J.Brill, 1971, III:1093)

?”The name Allah goes back before Muhammed” (Encyclopedia of World Mythology and Legend, “The Facts on File”, ed. Anthony Mercatante, New York, 1983, I:41)

?The origin of this (Allah) goes back to pre-Muslim times. Allah is not a common name meaning “God” (or a “god”), and the Muslim must use another word or form if he wishes to indicate any other than his own peculiar deity” (Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, ed. Turkey has sent over 47 tons of weaponry to the Syrian rebels since June, according to documents filed under the United Nations trade records, despite repeated denials from government ranks.

The U.N. records show that Turkey has sent varying amounts of guns to the Syrian rebels over the past few months, with the highest amount reaching nearly 29 tons of weaponry in September alone.

Turkey has repeatedly denied providing military assistance to the Syrian rebels, despite several reports claiming otherwise.

The brutality is now on both sides. To a massacre of loyalists, the response is a even more violent punitive action on the rebels.
While the Syrian government has officially accepted to negotiate a political solution, the main rebels factions have declared they reject it and will go on fighting.

Fabius stupid remark that he does not have much hopes in Geneva has triggered a renewed excitment among the weakening rebels as they hear that France is in favor of a military solution on the ground instead of a political one in Geneva.

That may explain the renewed air raids of the Syrian Air Force all over Syria. By doing so, the Syrian government is sending a clear message to the West and to Saudi Arabia that if they are discreetly preparing the new rebels (the Islamic Front) for more military confrontations instead of pushing them for a political solution, that is a taste of the overwhelming military response they will get.

In the meantime the average Syrians are wondering in which endless nightmare they have fallen.

Report: Bandar asked Putin to delay Geneva II conference
December 16, 2013 12:27 AM

http://www.dailystar.com.lb/News/Lebanon-News/2013/Dec-16/241218-report-bandar-asked-putin-to-delay-geneva-ii-conference.ashx#axzz2narzh0TB

Saudi intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend the date of Geneva II peace conference on Syria, scheduled for Jan. 22, after their talks on the Syrian war failed to reach a final conclusion, according to a diplomatic report received by Lebanese officials.
..
Bandar offered Putin Saudi assistance in fighting radical Islamists and preventing the expansion of their influence inside the Syrian opposition or in the ongoing battles with the regular Syrian Army in exchange for Russia’s help in removing President Bashar Assad from power in the future, the report said.

Putin did not give a final answer, renewing Moscow’s position on the need to ensure the main components for the convening of Geneva II conference, the report said.

At this point, Bandar cited the Saudi conditions for the success of the Geneva II conference, at the forefront of which is Iran’s nonparticipation in the peace talks in order to prevent Tehran from exploiting its nuclear agreement with the West to bolster its position in support of the Syrian regime, the report said.

The second Saudi condition, according to the report, is to extend the period for preparations for the Geneva II conference because Saudi Arabia believes that it can improve its negotiating position with the Syrian regime through military successes by the armed factions it directly supports, which are fighting on two fronts: The Syrian Army on the one hand, and hard-line jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) on the other.

Third, Bandar stressed that the actual translation of the Geneva I conference means the setting up of a transitional authority with full executive powers and therefore, the Geneva II conference should uphold this idea, contrary to conditions set by the Syrian leadership that it will not go to Geneva II to transfer power, the report said.

Putin, according to the report, faced Bandar with reservations over the Saudi terms, particularly the setting up of a transitional authority.

However, despite the differences, there were points of convergence between the Russian and Saudi sides: First, on confronting the terrorist movements in Syria and the region; second, on giving priority to a political solution to the Syria crisis; and third, on following up dialogue between Russia and Saudi Arabia through high-level officials or the creation of relevant committees by the two countries, the report said.

Al Qaeda, Saudi Arabia and the Collapsing Free Syrian Army

Omar Dahi tells Paul Jay that there is widespread belief among many Syrians that Geneva II is going to be a way to preserve the Syrian state and create a front for fighting al-Qaeda

-Now joining us to talk about all of this is Omar Dahi. He’s an associate professor of economics at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and he’s a visiting fellow at the Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut.

But the coalition forces have very few options. They have basically, in effect, surrendered their autonomy since the very beginning, the national coalition of what is considered the external opposition. They have heavily depended on their backers coming from the Gulf. And those backers are increasingly under severe pressure by the U.S. and by Europe to come to the negotiating table and to abandon these preconditions.

This doesn’t mean that Assad will stay for sure. There’s increasing evidence that perhaps if the right deal for all the different sides is on the table, Assad’s fate might be that he steps down, that he doesn’t run for reelection, and so forth. That’s yet to be determined. But the basic agreement is going to have to preserve some of the interests of Iran. And that is why the U.S.-Iranian rapprochement has been so keen towards making this step happen.

Now, it’s very complex to make this happen, and there won’t be a single-day ceasefire. But in terms of the al-Qaeda type groups, the key is to begin to marginalize them. But the only way to marginalize them is to have a meaningful transition. And that’s why there has to be some meaningful transition in Geneva II.

Absent that, why should the opposition cooperate in trying to marginalize and eliminate al-Qaeda groups if they don’t see themselves getting anything? The only thing they’ll be doing is going to Geneva to commit political suicide, because if they already gave up the precondition of Assad leaving and there is no actual transitional government in Geneva, then they basically haven’t achieved anything.

But both sides have to be forced to compromise. And the only way this will happen is through beginning the political process, because the other thing that’s going to do is that new voices are going to begin to emerge. Syrians are wary of war. And you have people, both people who support the regime as well as people who oppose the regime, resentful of both of those sides, resentful of the fact that both sides seem to be continuing to drag the country to total destruction, continuing to use the rhetoric of victory, of annihilation of the other side, which has resulted in a real catastrophe for the country, and everyone knows that it has to stop.
….
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia now sees itself isolated, and they’re going to be forced to change their line sooner or later because of the fact that they have picked battles with almost all of their allies.
…They managed to cross with or break with Turkey, because they supported the coup in Egypt and Turkey stood against the coup. So their relations with Turkey deteriorated. They have a rivalry with Qatar from the very beginning, and over the past year, Qatar was marginalized on behalf of Saudi Arabia. And now, with U.S.-Iranian rapprochement, they’re fuming, because they see the U.S. basically doing the opposite of what Saudi Arabia had hoped they would do, but the U.S. doing what is the rational thing to do, which is a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.

So sooner or later Saudi Arabia is going to have to toe the line. And I think over the next couple of months they’re going to be making a decision whether or not to attend Geneva II and to support the process. But I think they’re going to have to sooner or later.

Tara,

That’s a great YouTube channel, I like this guy!
If you recall, I was pro [peaceful] revolution. I believe that if it stayed peaceful, Assad would have been in the trash-bin of history by now. I’m sorry, I’m no longer pro-revolution. I cannot support those barbarians, those hijackers, who are the face of the (so called) revolution. This is no longer a revolution. This is a slaughter house.

Zoo,
What was the military value of many of the buildings that were leveled in Aleppo and some other places in Syria ?
I was among the first people to denounce the rebels tactic of using civilian areas as bases and launching pads for their attacks but the answer is not indiscriminate bombing of places that have women and children. It seems to me that violence did intensify before Geneva 2 because fighting factions want to score before a cease fire is requested or imposed.
Like many, I have serious doubts that Geneva 2 will work, even if it does it is likely to be a long and bloody route.
(Amir, I totally agree)

If the Islamic Front refuses to go to Geneva, will Baby Bandar be forced to follow his predecessor HBJ in the dustbin of the Syrian aborted revolution?

Amir,

Like Hitler would have stopped slaughtering Jews of they revolted peacefully?

Your change in heart is Assad’s propaganda in action. He wanted the world to believe he is fighting global jihad and unfortunately he was successful to a certain degree. Batta unleashed those jihadis from his dungeons and is using them to validate his position. Isis is a creation of the regime and Assad’s stupid brutality is what made jihadists flock in to join ISIS.

My opinion is that as long as Batta is in power, jihadis are in Syria to stay. It is only when Batta is perished that Syrians would unite against them. It is a pity that only Syrians can see this.

Observacion:

Again you slander a whole sect and call them criminals.

This is an outright fabrication Doctor Observacion: Yes there are many criminals amongst the Alawites, but for sure they are not all criminals.

As for the father of Hafez al-Assad and the document he signed asking the French to stay is also a fabrication. When you repeat these fabrications with certainty, I have to put you in the same class as those who fabricated this story.

The ones who signed for the Alawite State to stay are:

Ibrahim al-Kinj (he was the head of the Parliament in the Alawite State)
Wadi’ Si’adeh: Vice president of the Alawite State Parliament.
Mohamamd Sulayman Ahmad (Badawi al-Jabal himself)
Muhammad Junayd.
Saqer Kheirbek
Aziz Hawash
Yusuf Hamed
Sulayman al-Murshid
Amin Mulhem Raglan
Sidiq Allis
Muhey al-Din Ahmad.

????????: ??????? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???? ????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? ????? ????? ???? ?????? ????? ???? ????? ??? ??????? ???? ????? ???? ????? ?????? ????? ???? ???? ?????? ???? ?????? ???? ????? ????

Again as you can see the father of Hafez al-Assad’s name is not on the list.

Again: I am still waiting for your proof mr. Observacion to back up your fabrications….

Maybe the attacks in Aleppo were aimed at strategic buildings, but I see them more as an eye for an eye punishment for the attack on civilians in Adra that killed 35 persons, among them women and children. It is also a display of the determination of the Syrian army to get rid of the terrorists and their allies at any cost, now that Saudi Arabia is boosting their new rebels force, the Islamic Front whose intentions are sinister.
I do no condone any escalation of violence. I have repeatedly said that killings must stop and the first step is to say yes to unconditional negotiations.
While the Syrian government said yes, the rebels repeatedly said no.

Tara,

If it stayed peaceful, the Assadist propaganda of “armed terrorist gangs”, which at the beginning was indeed propaganda, would have been exposed as regime propaganda.

I blame those who started the armed thing. And I don’t agree with you that this “Jihadi” thing was created by Assad. Those, who started the armed phase of the revolution, created instability. this instability attracted the Jihadies, who thrive in an instable environment.

“It is a pity that only Syrians can see this”. You have no right in speaking on behalf of “Syrians”. You’re not in Syria. You don’t suffer from this disaster.

Bottom line: the opposition screw*ed the [just] revolution.
