From the link on the interview with Kinan Azmeh, a link to a story bout the very prestigious High School of Music in Damascus and the difficulties artists have in finding jobs. But the introduction story itself is excellent and the talk about Syria and educational system is excellent.

Dear Sebastien,
Thanks for the kind words. I should imagine that SC is useful for research as it catalogs events chronologically for 5 years and the comment section provides a cross section of public concerns and commentary.
All the same, in academe, blogs are not considered academic work, research, etc… Alas.

The choir came with a message of love, interfaith harmony and peace. From all I heard and read, they were a great success in their performances in Washington, Detroit, Jacksonville and Orlando…

Disclosure: I am one of their online resources.

35 years ago, I was a member of a similar choir, but we were no way or shape remotely as good as these wonderful kids. In fact, our singing was outright Nashaz 🙂
Kudos to them and to you for being one of their supporters.
