Abdullah ibn Zubayr Battalions of Deir az-Zor Reject Fighting ISIS

By Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi
Since the outbreak of the wider infighting between the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (ISIS) and other rebel groups, some factions have emerged with a definitive anti-fitna stance, insisting on neutrality. The latest case is the Abdullah ibn Zubayr Battalions of Deir az-Zor province, which is instead directing efforts to fighting regime forces in Deir az-Zor city. From a strategic perspective, this approach is offensive: the Jabhat al-Nusra et al. offensive on ISIS in al-Markadah and the ISIS incursions into Deir az-Zor province have so far been little more than a futile waste of manpower and weapons, as the overall stalemate shows. Below is my preliminary translation of their statement.
New Abdullah ibn Zubayr Battalions statement rejecting infighting
“On the principle of self-distancing, and the lack of spilling Muslims’ blood in intervening in the ongoing war between Islamic factions: this war that has eaten up the everything and everybody, this war that has diverted the revolution from its true goal and has offered a service to the regime it dreamed of, allowing it to attempt to advance here and there at more than one point in Ard al-Rabat [Syria].
Accordingly, the leadership of the Group of Abdullah ibn Zubayr battalions announces the following:
1. No intervention in this war on one side against the other.
2. If any member gets involved in this war, he is considered expelled, and the Group has no link with his behaviour; as for someone from the people of the village (non-military) getting involved, we are not responsible for his behaviour and have no link with him whether near or far.
3. The Group will not allow any side involved to use our land as a battlefield.
Leaders of the battalions:
Ayad al-Malihal
Hassan al-Daba’
Hissan al-Jad’an
Bassam al-Badran
Khalid al-Musharraf
Khalifa al-Tayyas
Raed al-Hammad
Ammar ash-Sha’ar
Salama al-Jabar
Muhammad al-Salah
Huwaidi al-Dabbagh”

AYMENN AL-TAMIMI sabotages himself badly.
The kindest interpretation is that he is not mature enough to be writing seriously on Syrian events.
His obsession with displaying corpses and deferentially analysing stuff from “holy warriors” creates the suspicion that he is deeply addicted to and enthralled by the whole thing.
It’s like he’s is in the grip of the biologically driven and irrational impulses that have propelled young males onto the battle field since time began.
Scientific fact: wars are largely fought on the ground by adolescents who have under-developed perspectives, judgement and awareness of risk – in fact, they are easily recruited and directed because they crave the battle experience.
So is AYMEEN AL-TAMIMI instead finding an outlet for his urges with his gory oversized pictures of corpses he pushes at people scrolling down this site?
(And MATTHEW also seems very happy to help him row this boat despite reader appeals to at the very least edit the snuff photos down to normal size).
See what I, TARA and SAMI had to say about Aymenn’s actions on the previous post:

Instead of attacking Ayman Jawad al-Tamimi’s personality try to argue against his ideas.
Do these Jihadi groups exist in Syria or not?
Are they “tourists” swimming by the ocean or invaders eating our (Syrian) meat and cutting heads?
When “Syria ‘lover'” attacks Ayman Jawad al-Tamimi like this, I know for sure that Ayman Jawad al-Tamimi is presenting an argument this “lover” can not handle, or simply does not agree with. What happened to “freedom of speech?”
Look at the normal aggression that killed any real discourse on this blog. Although I could classify these feeble attempts as immature, but, for me the “maturity” or “immaturity” argument is lame at best. I also see it as an attack against those who are running this blog.

MJABALI #6, what I an others here object to having to handle is coming to this site now and being confronted with sensationalist, sordid oversized images of dead people.
That is a revealing and personal choice of Ayman Jawad al-Tamimi. Don’t be ridiculous, it is nothing to do with “freedom of speech”.
It debases and detracts from the value of this site. It builds on the horror and nastiness which repels people away from the real and significant human and other issues of the Syrian situation.
If it doesn’t bother YOU, I suggest you print out those blog entries in color and show it around to your neighbors, workmates and any other normal people you know. It will be like you are sharing porn with them.
And by the way “normal aggression” did not kill this blog. It was the tsunami of junk postings, and it’s now being further wounded by poor judgement and poor taste by showcasing such images.
